We are saying good bye to 2021, and as usual we are offering our monthly mini workshop on the first Monday of the month, December 6. This will be the last session of the year, and we are going to follow it with the annual Krampus Rumpus poetry open mic. Both are virtual this year, and you can access by zoom. As always, we post on our Lehigh Valley Poetry Facebook page and share on Instagram. (#lehighvalleypoetry and #lehighvalleypoetryvirtualsalon) The upcoming events can be found there and you can always reach out to me, E. Lynn Alexander. I manage the website, social media, etc. so track me down (@elynnalexander) and get in touch. On to the workshop-
The Krampus Rumpus annual poetry event is meant to be a fun, festive, inclusive seasonal shindig and will be online this year so you can participate from wherever you are. Open mic, open mind. We are doing this as a special edition of the regularly scheduled monthly Lehigh Valley Poetry (Virtual) Salon and Open Mic. The open mic starts at 8:30 EST, and we do a mini workshop session from 8:00 PM- 8:30.
This month’s mini workshop will be guest facilitated by Darrell Parry who will be doing a special Krampus themed session. Krampus is part of pagan lore, from central European legend. Half goat, half demon, he punishes misbehaving children and was thought to be part of pagan rituals. He is the son of the Norse god of the underworld.
This month’s mini workshop will focus on the intersection of poetry and folktale, and the capturing of stories through poetry. Virtual. Zoom ID: 893 5219 4238. Free.
